| As we proceed through the stages or levels of web farming,
the architecture evolves, building on the previous. In the Getting Started stage, a
minimal architecture is needed to enable a single analysis to specify the business case
for web farming and to demonstrate business value to the enterprise. In the Getting
Serious stage, most processing shifts into a server platform managed within a data center
for both performance and reliability.
As we move into the Getting Smart stage, the processing
expands greatly on the server platform with advanced analysis tools and intelligent
agents. Finally, the Getting Tough stage involves the flow of validated content into the
data warehouse.

The proper architecture is critical to the success of a web
farming system. Further details are described in Chapter Five of the WF
Book. |
