| Idea
Inception |
Unlike most ideas, I remember well the moment
that the idea of WebFarming came to me. The event was the CIO Conference in Naples in
March of 1997. I was sitting in a semi-boring presentation by a vendor explaining their
efforts with Data Warehousing. My mind wandered toward more interesting topics. On my
notepad, I noted that "the Web as the Mother of all DW." The maturing of a
corporate data warehouse must involve the integration of data external to the company and
that this data will eventually come from information resources based on the Web.
